The product properties are also different depending on the shape and size of the pregelatinized particles. One type is hollow spherical and flaky, with low apparent density, high cold viscosity, low hot viscosity, and good surface gloss, but rehydrates quickly and is easy to clot; the other type is spherical or cubic in shape, with high apparent density. Low cold viscosity, high hot viscosity, slow rehydration: medium particles between these two types, difficult to contact with water and difficult to disperse. Adding a little lecithin, surfactant, and vegetable oil can prevent the rehydration of small particles of pregelatinized starch from clumping. The quality of granules has a direct impact on the production quality and production efficiency of subsequent processing. For example, the key to the formation of contemporary traditional Chinese medicine preparations is granulation. Pregelatinized starch is used as an auxiliary material in the granulation of traditional Chinese medicine extracts, which can significantly improve the granule yield. The particle size and strength of the particles are moderate. The yield of pregelatinized starch granules can reach 85%, and the granulation effect is good. It can be used as an ideal excipient for the granulation of traditional Chinese medicine extracts.
