2. Complete Production Process of Pet Feed with Twin-Screw Extruder

The fully automatic pet feed extrusion line realizes continuous closed-loop production, with the twin-screw extruder as the core host. The whole process is as follows: Raw materials are crushed first and separated by magnetic separator to remove metal impurities, and the crushing fineness meets extrusion requirements. Then the system weighs and batching materials automatically according to the preset formula, and sends them into the mixing blender for full homogenization. Meat meal, soybean meal, grain powder, vitamins, minerals and other raw materials are mixed evenly. The high-fresh-meat version can be equipped with a fresh meat conveying system to realize synchronous feeding of fresh meat slurry. The mixed materials are transported to the conditioner, where steam and water are introduced for conditioning and pre-curing, improving material plasticity, reducing the load of the extruder and realizing preliminary sterilization. The conditioned materials are fed evenly into the twin-screw extruder. Under multi-section temperature control, high pressure and strong shearing force inside the barrel, starch is fully gelatinized and protein denatured. Pushed by the screw, materials are extruded through custom dies. When leaving the die hole, the pressure releases instantly, internal moisture flashes and vaporizes, forming loose and porous grain blanks. A variable-frequency rotary cutter at the die outlet cuts the materials to control pellet length. The newly extruded wet pellets are sent to the multi-layer hot air dryer for dehydration to reduce moisture content to the range suitable for long-term storage. After drying, pellets go to the vacuum coating station. Grease, palatants, probiotics, vitamins and other heat-sensitive nutrients are added here to avoid activity loss caused by high temperature. The coated pellets are air-cooled, then screened by a grading sieve. Fine scraps are recycled and fed back into production. Qualified pellets are rechecked by metal detector and finally delivered to the automatic packing machine for quantitative sealing to produce finished extruded pet food. Different shapes of dog food and cat food pellets can be produced by replacing dies and adjusting process parameters.
