Application of pregelatinized starch in oil drilling：

Pregelatinized starch is a type of drilling starch. It is used in the drilling industry and is also known as fluid loss agent. The four major functions of fluid loss agent in drilling work are:
1. Protective glue function
In order to form a mud cake with low permeability, the clay particle size in the drilling fluid is required to have a suitable size distribution, and more fine particles are required. The protective function of fluid loss agent is:
Adsorb on the clay surface to form an adsorption layer to prevent the clay particles from flocculating and becoming larger.
It can stabilize the fine particles broken up by the stirring of the mud circulation system through adsorption and no longer stick to large particles. This increases the proportion of fine particles and is conducive to the formation of fine mud cakes.
2. Increasing the viscosity of the filtrate can reduce the filter loss
The fluid loss is inversely proportional to the 0.5 power of the drilling fluid filtrate viscosity. After organic fluid loss reducer is added to the drilling fluid, the viscosity of the filtrate is increased and the fluid loss is reduced.
3. Increase the hydration degree of soil-moving particles in drilling fluid
This can reduce filtration loss. The fluid loss reducer is adsorbed on the soil-moving particles in the drilling fluid, causing the hydration degree of the particles to increase and the hydration film of the particles to thicken. The formed filter cake is easily deformed under high pressure and the permeability of the filter cake is reduced.
